Massage Therapy
Massage therapy is a form of care and attention for individual needs.  There are many benefits to massage therapy including relief from toxins, conditioning of the skin, fluid transfer improvement including circulation improvement, promotion of better sleep, and relief from anxiety or stress. Chiropractic care and massage therapy can be used in conjunction with each other or as separate care techniques.
The focus of massage therapy is to relieve, relax, and promote wellness for all clients of any stage in life. Whether you want to just be pampered or really need relief on a sore muscle, massage therapy can help. Perhaps, you have a big golf tournament coming up.  many professional golfers visit both the chiropractor and massage therapist before or after hitting the links.  What ever your need is, massage therapy is an effective, inexpensive way of getting you feeling better, performing better, and making life more enjoyable.

Massage Services and Pricing

Therapeutic Massage (30 min - $35, 60 min - $60)
This common type of massage is very beneficial to aid clients with specific problem areas. The therapist will make each session unique by using combinations of Swedish, Trigger Point Therapy, Deep Tissue Energy Work, Neuromuscular therapy, Reflexology, and Stretching according to the clients needs at that particular time. the pressure tends to be firm and may be slightly uncomfortable when working on troubled areas.

Swedish Massage (30 min - $35, 60 min - $60)
This type of massage is the most popular throughout the world and is typically what is thought of when referring to massage.  It is designed to comfort the body and relax the mind. The practitioner uses broad hand and arm techniques to stimulate circulation and help move fluid in the body.  This gentle massage is perfect for stress reduction and relaxation. It can improve circulation, promote better sleep, reduce anxiety, and help moisturize the skin.

Deep Tissue Massage ($10 add on to Swedish massage)
Deep tissue massage is an overall firm massage session with deep, focused work on tight areas. It does not always encompass the entire body as its intent is often on problematic areas. Muscles that are stressed will block oxygen and nutrients, leading to inflammation that will build up and store toxins in the muscle tissue.  Deep tissue massage will get to the core of the problem by working intensely on the muscles and connective tissue to free toxins and restore circulation of blood and oxygen. Generally, deep tissue massage will use slow strokes and deep pressure on the contracted areas. Remember, with the release of the toxins, it is important to properly hydrate and allow the body to flush out and eliminate the toxins.

Pregnancy Massage (30 min - $35, 60 min - $60)
A wonderful opportunity for rest and relaxation, pregnancy massage can be done anytime after the first trimester, with a doctor's permission. this type of massage is designed especially for the needs of a pregnant woman. Many special accommodations are taken into account to customize the treatment to the needs of each client, such as working on the lower back and hip area to relieve common pain, working on the legs to relieve leg cramps and the use of essential oils to maintain elasticity of the skin and ease stretch marks.

Infant Massage (15 min - $18, 30 min - $35)
This is a very gentle type of massage. Infant massage has a wide range of benefits including promotion of relaxation, improving sensory integration, helping aid better sleep, stimulating the circulatory and GI systems, and assisting in pain relief.

Trigger Point Massage (15 min - $18, 30 min - $35)
This type of massage is specific and zeros in on trouble spots, applying concentrated pressure to areas of chronic or severe pain in the muscles, called "trigger points". Trigger Points occur when a muscle is in constant contraction typically due to how we hold and position ourselves. Generally, stiff holding patterns occur in the shoulders due to daily stress. These holding patterns go undetected to our conscious mind because they are so slight. Trigger point therapy tends to be deeper in nature, but can be performed at a light to medium level of pressure to accommodate clients needs and comfort. Typically 5-6 treatments will rid you of the full onslaught of pain. Trigger point massage has been known to diminish migraine pain, mock sciatica, mock carpal tunnel syndrome and other pain syndromes, and other symptoms that may have been misdiagnosed.

Reflexology Massage (15 min - $18 Feet only, 30 min - $35 Feet & Hands)
Reflexology is a complementary therapy, which works to heal the whole body, not just prevailing symptoms. Reflexology can help restore and maintain the body's natural equilibrium. This encourages the body to work naturally to restore its own healthy balance.  Reflexology is much more than a deep, relaxing foot massage, instead it is an acupressure type technique applied to the hands and feet based on an ancient Oriental theory that meridian lines carry energy throughout the body.
Chiropractic Care

Chiropractic is a whole body healing art. Chiropractors not only work with the spine, but also adjust the joints of the extremities, the cranium, the viscera and soft tissues depending on the needs of the patient. Chiropractic does not rely on drugs or surgery in the healing process. Instead, Chiropractic safely and gently stimulates your body's natural ability to heal itself from the inside out.

Besides relieving pain due to musculoskeletal abnormalities, one of the most important ways Chiropractic improves your health is by helping your body to communicate properly. You see, your central nervous system, found in your spine, is the body’s communications hub. Messages from your brain travel through the nervous system to the rest of your body. But injury, stress, or even day-to-day wear and tear can actually interfere with normal communications, and wreak all kinds of havoc-including pain and headaches...and even seemingly unrelated problems like asthma or allergies.

As opposed to traditional medical care, which tends to treat just the symptoms-(and with the risk of a bunch of unpleasant side-effects, too!)-Chiropractic gets right to the heart of the matter. It works to gently and naturally restore the body to its natural state of health. By restoring motion, proper nerve flow and by eliminating misalignments in the vertebrae or other skeletal abnormalities, an individual can again experience the wonder and joy of a healthy, higher quality life.

Chiropractic Care and Kids

How Does Dr. Hensley Treat Children?
Dr. Hensley modifies chiropractic treatment techniques to be appropriate for your child's size and needs. She uses very gentle pressure to correct spinal position and help ensure proper spinal development. Treatment may also include exercises and nutritional counseling.

Spinal Development:
At birth, an infant's spine is a single, C-shaped curve and the infant lacks the strength to hold up his or her head. At approximately 6 months, a curve forms in the low back and the muscles of the lumbar area develop. The child then learns to crawl and stand and develops the strength and balance to walk and run. At this stage the child has developed the three natural curves found in the adult spine.

As children begin to walk they may fall and suffer strains as a result. Periodic checkups can help to identify and treat these problems. Detecting developing weaknesses in a child's spine is key to maintaining good health.

How will Dr. Hensley Decide on a Course of Treatment?
Dr. Hensley will ask you questions concerning your child's birth and development. She will then conduct an examination to determine if your child's posture and movements are normal. The exam will include tests of reflexes and range of motion as well as a check of spinal curvature. If necessary, Dr. Hensley will refer you to another specialist such as a pediatrician or neurologist. Dr. Hensley is also a member of the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA).

How You Can Help to Ensure Normal Spinal Development:

To lift a baby, support the child's back and neck with your hands.
To lift an older child, grasp his or her body under the arms.
Use an approved car seat that provides support for your child's head and neck.
Make sure that your child has a firm bed.
Be aware of your child's eating habits. Emphasize the importance of eating a well balanced diet.
Teach your child to maintain good posture.
Schedule regular spinal check-ups.

Chiropractic Care During Pregnancy

During pregnancy, the shifting of weight bearing structures accompanied by connective tissues, such as tendons and ligaments, becoming loose can lead to lower back pain. Dr. Hensley can treat this pain safely through chiropractic adjustments. She has a table which can modified to accommodate the changes in your body and she will modify the adjusting techniques as necessary during the course of your pregnancy.

Chiropractic care can help provide freedom from nerve irritation which could be vitally important in insuring your child's healthy, normal development. Adjustments also help to insure your pelvic bones are in proper alignment, which may result in an easier delivery with less chance of injury to you or your child. Dr. Hensley is also certified in the Webster Technique.

Post Partum Chiropractic care can aid in relieving the low back, hip and leg problems that may occur following the mechanical stress and trauma of pregnancy and delivery.

Chiropractic Services

Webster Technique
A specific chiropractic analysis and adjustment that has been proven highly effective in removing constraint to the uterus and allows the baby to assume the best possible position for a less traumatic birth.

Intersegmental Traction
A passive motion therapy that works in an upward and downward motion along the spine. This therapy acts to unlock fixations of the vertebra to allow more flexibility of the spine. It also helps to rehabilitate the ligaments along the spine to hold the alignment of the vertebra.

Electrical Muscle Stimulation
EMS is a low voltage electrical current that works to cause muscle contraction, which can fatigue the muscle or reduce localized pain and inflammation. This therapy can act to relieve muscle spasms as well as rehabilitate injured muscles.

Ultrasound
A therapeutic treatment using high-frequency sound waves administered in the region of soft tissue injuries. The sound vibrations penetrate the tissues deep in the body, creating a heat response. The rise in temperature increases blood flow, relaxes muscle spasms, massages damaged tissues, and speeds the healing process.

Flexion/Distraction Table
This therapy helps rehabilitate damaged spinal discs. It decreases the bugle in the disc that may be pushing directly against the nerve. It helps restore flexibility in the spine.

Active Rehabilitation
Active rehab uses the joints being treated to strengthen ligaments, muscles, and tendons. It gives the body the best chance of correctly functioning, helping prevent re-injury, and resisting stress. This means you get better faster and stay healthier longer!

Trigger Point Therapy
Trigger points are hypersensitive areas within muscles, tendons, or ligaments which can cause pain. Trigger point therapy helps muscles return to their normal resting state, thereby eliminating the pain.

Erchonia Percussor
This is a specific tool used to help release the tight fascia surrounding muscles to allow them to relax and hold adjustments better.

Erchonia Adjustor
The adjustor is another way to adjust the spine in a more gentle and repetitive way. This is excellent for use in children and for those conditions that do not respond to manual adjustments.
